The Biggest Strawberry Harvest

The strawberry garden was overflowing with strawberries. Everyone harvested them. We then washed and had a strawberry picnic. They were sweet and juicy and the classroom smelt like strawberry jam.
 

Our Post Office

We had fun writing to our friends in the writing centre and then posting our letters at the Cottage Post Office. The children made signs for the post office and even made fifty-three dollars by selling
stamps for one dollar. They then delivered the mail in the afternoon
 

A Very Special Parcel

Today Mrs Young surprised Cottage by bringing a post bag over to our classroom. The bag was addressed to Cottage and had a letter inside from the post office. The letter said, that the post office had heard that the children in Cottage were interested in writing their names, letters and words. Inside the sack was a note for each child to take home, some writing paper, a pencil box and a box of envelopes. We then thought it would be a great idea to set up our own post office to deliver our letters to. Everyone then brainstormed all the things we would need for our very own Cottage Post Office.

Maths, Craft and Fun

The children were excited as they played a Christmas pattern game on the smart board. They were very quick to find the next picture in the pattern. They also played a counting game on the mat. The craft table has been very busy and I am sure you have noticed lots of interesting artwork coming home. The children have enjoyed the warmer weather with water play and sand play very popular this week so far. Mrs Bennett came down to see the children after discovering some of the Loquat trees had fruit on them. The children had thought the fruit might be small Mangoes. They then watched as the fruit was opened up and to find the seeds. We then went on an excursion around the school searching for Loquat fruit. During our Yarning Circle time the children compared different pine cones that some of the children had brought in. We wondered where the pine cone seeds had gone and how long it took for the pine trees to grow.
