Healthy Harold

This week the children enjoyed a visit from Healthy Harold. Harold taught the children the importance of eating a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also talked about the importance of exercise and brushing our teeth. The children played games to reinforce these. Everyone got to have a turn to either choose a physical activity for everyone to do or to help pack a healthy lunch for Harold or to practice brushing the giant teeth. At the end Harold got a hug from each child.

Our Exciting Week

This week the children coped very well with different staff teaching them. During the wet weather we did some box construction. There were lots of very intricate structures and tall structures.
The children created different role play scenarios in the block room. The doll’s house became a birthday party house, home corner hosted a picnic and the block corner became a construction site with its very own paper crane.
The children have continued to use our natural materials table to create different pieces of artwork. They have explored patterns, symmetry and shape as they placed the different materials on the timber pieces.

Cottage Reflections Term 2 Week 7

Pom Pom Birds

This week the children finished making their pom poms. They added beaks and eyes making them into little birds. Earlier in the term the children had made paper mache nests ready for their pom pom birds to snuggle in.
