ANZAC Biscuits

Today we made ANZAC biscuits together. The children worked in small groups following the method of the recipe. They measured the ingredients and mixed them all together. As they rolled the mixture into little ball they made observations about how the ingredients had changed from dry to wet and sticky. After they were cooked we had a picnic together eating our yummy biscuits. We then shared them around the school.

A Beautiful Day

Today the children were excited to find a new nature area set up in the quiet room. There were feathers, seed pods, leaves, gum nuts, nests, pine cones and books set up on the light box, in the trolley and on a table.
We also enjoyed the warmer weather, playing outside with our friends. There were tea parties, block building, and some art activities.
During our literacy groups the children looked at the letter 'c' and worked on their phonemic awareness, playing a listening lotto game and some THRASS chart games.

Los Miembros de la Familia πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸ’πŸ’‍♂️

This Term, students have been naming and identifying family members in Spanish.  The children also have been looking at why there are accents in Spanish (or 'hats' on the letters), and how this changes the sound of the letter within the word.  Additionally, the children have been practising their writing strokes and letters of the Spanish alphabet.

Looking at Shapes

Today we played different shape games during our small group activities. The children played a shape lotto game as they looked at different 2D shapes. They also played a shape matching game on the smart board. We talked about the different attributes of  each of the shapes and the difference between a square and rectangle. We then looked at shapes in the environment and found out the doors were rectangles, the clock was a circle and the the smart board was a rectangle. The children then went on a hunt around the room to find different shapes in the classroom environment.
