Fun in Cottage

The children have been working on their coding skills as they continue to enjoy giving the drone instructions on the giant grid. This week we have been looking at how we could give the drone a series of instructions using arrows. The children helped make different pathways on the mat and then took turns at being a robot as they followed the path.
As it was raining we had placed the Lego out on the table at lunch time. We noticed the children building spaceships and rockets. They then used each other to give their rockets instructions to fly to different destinations on the grid. It was exciting to see them beginning to work out that all types of machines need instructions to work. We even had someone bring in a remote control car come for the children to look at.
We have begun our self portraits this week. I have been sitting with each child one on one as they have studied their reflection in the mirror. We talked about what they could see as well as the shape of their eyes, nose and mouth. Each child then drew what they could see.

In Art the children explored printing with different objects, while in Spanish they read stories in Spanish and played a game on the smart board where they had to match colours with different animals.

We have had picnics with our friends, celebrated ice cream day and it's only Wednesday!
