Art in Nature

Today we looked at the artwork of Andy Goldsworthy. The children had a lively discussion as we did one of our ‘See, Think, Wonder’ visible thinking routines. We used another 'zoom in', with small parts of the picture being exposed at a time. The children thought it might be a fossil or teeth, or eggs. When they were shown the final picture someone said it was a spiral. They were fascinated by the picture and were interested to find out it was created by artist Andy Goldsworthy. We then looked at other examples of his art. We set up special provocations both indoors and outside where the children could use natural materials to create their own piece of art.
